Las Vegas, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands men's basketball team hosts Northern New Mexico on Wednesday morning to open the home portion of the 2024-25 season. The game is the annual Youth School Day Game presented by Quality Care and tips-off at 11:15 am.
The Cowboys opened play last weekend at the South Central Regional Challenge at Fort Lewis College in Durango. The opening game featured a 34 point performance from senior
Kenard Richardson in an 84-83 win over Angelo State on Friday afternoon. In the weekend's second game, NMHU fell to in-state rival Eastern New Mexico 94-82.
Through two games Richardson is the Cowboy's leading scorer (19.0 per game) and rebounder (7.0 per game). Four others are in double figures as well;
Kyrie Thomas (14.0),
TJ Sanchez (12.0),
Blessin Kimble (11.0), and
KJ LaMonte (11.0).
The Cowboys are led by sixth year head coach
Mike Dominguez.
NMHU won both games against Northern New Mexico last season winning the Youth School Day Game in Las Vegas 89-60 and a game in Espanola 72-65 a week later.
