Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowboys are home for a post-Thanksgiving game on Friday afternoon hosting Western Colorado in a non-conference game at 1:00 pm.
NMHU enters play Friday at 4-1 after defeating Western New Mexico 74-71 on Tuesday afternoon in Silver City.
Kenard Richardson scored 19 points and
TJ Sanchez added 13 to lead the Cowboys.
Through five games four players average double figures for NMHU with Richardson at 17.2 per game. Also in scoring double digits are
Kyrie Thomas (11.7),
Blessin Kimble (10.3), and
TJ Sanchez (10.2).
Friday's game with Western Colorado marks the second of three games against RMAC foes that are non-conference games this season. NMHU defeated CSU-Pueblo 85-63 last Saturday and travels to Lakewood for a game with Colorado Christian on December 19th.
The Mountaineers bring a 1-3 record to historic Las Vegas for Friday's match-up with the Cowboys having defeated Justice College 72-48 in their most recent outing. Tyler Halligan is Western Colorado's leading scorer at 14.8 per game. Jamel Hollins leads the Mountaineers in rebounding at 7.3 per outing. Zac Claus is in his second season at the helm of Western Colorado where he has a record of 12-20.
The Mountaineers topped NMHU 76-65 last season in Gunnison. The two teams play a conference game in Gunnison on January 11th.
