Las Vegas, New Mexico - Visiting Adams State handed the Cowgirls a 64-72 setback on Saturday afternoon. With the loss the Cowgirls are 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Adams State led by as many as ten points in the second quarter but a late push by NMHU cut that lead to 38-36 at halftime. The visitors outscored the Cowgirls 17-12 in the fourth quarter to secure the margin of victory.
Freshman
Kapiolani Anitielu recorded her second double-double of the season as she scored a game high 23 points and grabbed a game high 12 rebounds to pace the Cowgirls
Juliana Aragon added seven points and had a game high six assists and three steals.
The Cowgirls held a 40-35 edge in rebounds and were 26-67 from the floor and 8-11 from the free throw line.
NMHU travels to Alamosa to play Adams State on February 6th.
The Cowgirls return to action on January 9th at Colorado Mesa in a 5:00 pm game.
