Las Vegas, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands men's basketball returns home for a pair of RMAC contests this weekend after playing the last three games on the road. The Cowboys host UCCS on Friday and Regis on Saturday. Both games are set for 7:00 pm starts.
The Mountain Lions enter play this weekend with an overall record of 10-10 and 6-8 in conference play. Freshman Xavier Martinex leads UCCS in scoring at 14.6 points per game. As a team, UCCS averages 72.8 points per game while allowing 72.0 per game. Friday's game is the 51st all-time meeting between the two teams with the Mountain Lions holding a 26-24 edge in the series history.
Regis is 10-9 overall and 7-6 in the conference as they begin play this weekend. The Rangers play at CSU-Pueblo Friday before heading to the Wilson Complex on Saturday. Chase Mayo Harm leads the Rangers in scoring at 16.5 per game. The Rangers are averaging 73.6 points per outing while allowing 72.1. Regis won both games last season against the Cowboys.
The Cowboys are 7-11 overall and 4-9 in the RMAC entering weekend play. Senior
Ezichi Kalu is fifth in the RMAC in rebounding at 7.4 per game and second in blocks with 1.2 per game.
Kenard Richardson is fifth in the conference in free throw percentage at 84.8%. As a team, the Cowboys hold their opponents to 43.1% shooting from the floor.
