Colorado Springs, Colorado - New Mexico Highlands junior shortstop
Dioni Lincoln was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) softball Player of the Week today.
Lincoln helped the Cowgirls to a 4-1 record this weekend at the South Central Region Crossover in Los Lunas. Appearing in all five games this weekend, she posted a .474 batting average, 1.447 OPS and a .947 slugging percentage. Additionally, Lincoln had nine RBIs, seven runs and two stolen bases for NMHU.
"Dioni has been one of our most consistent players on both sides of the ball in her three years here," said head coach Ashley Forshee on Tuesday afternoon. "She is a student of the game and always continues to find a way to make herself better for the team. While being one of the top producers on this team she still finds a way to get better each year she is here. I really see this year being her breakout year and this past weekend really showed what potential this season could have for her."
Junior pitcher
Maya Milano was among the players listed as honorable mention this week by the RMAC. She posted three complete game wins over the weekend and currently leads the RMAC in innings pitched and strikeouts. She is tied among the leaders with three wins.
"Maya was a competitor this weekend," commented Forshee. From 18 strikeouts to her first collegiate home run, she fired up the team all weekend. We've set goals as a staff this year to be international with our pitch execution and Maya really honed in on it."
