Golden, Colorado - The Colorado School of Mines swept today's doubleheader from New Mexico Highlands taking the opener 6-0 and the night cap 12-4.
The Orediggers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the opening game as they plated a run in the third inning. They would add three runs in the fourth inning and an additional two runs en route to the 6-0 win. The Cowgirls had five hits in the contest, including a double off the bat of Arianna Ramirerz to lead off the second inning.
In game two, the Cowgirls scored first as they pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Smantha Gamboa got the game started with a lead off double and she would score two batters later when Jazmyn Grieg reached on an error. Grieg would cross home plate to make the score 2-0 when Heaven Median reached on a bases loaded walk. NMHU added a run in the third and a run in the fifth but they weren't enough to overcome the Orediggers.
The teams play two games tomorrow with first pitch set for 11:00 am.
