Kearney, Nebraska - Two first half goals powered New Mexico Highlands to a 2-1 win over Minnesota-Moorhead on Friday afternoon at the University of Nebraska - Kearney. With the win the Cowgirls improved to 2-0-1.
Senior
Acacia Rodriguez opened the scoring for the Cowgirls at the 25:09 mark of the match on an assist from
Izzie Scott. Twelve minutes later
Ruth Covey scored on a feed from
Devyn Gunn to put NMHU up 2-0.
Minnesota-Moorhead got on the board twenty minutes into the second half with a goal that ended up being the last scoring of the match.
Freshman
Haylee Driscoll got the win in goal for NMHU.
After the win Coach
Amanda Evans said," I am very excited about how the players are continuing to buy into our system of play. It is a system that requires our players to work together and trust each other. Moorhead really tested us with their physicality, but we stayed focused on what we came here to do."
