Kearney, Nebraska - The Cowgirls dropped their first match of 2024 4-0 on Sunday afternoon to Concordia - St. Paul. The match was the second in three days for NMHU on the campus of the University of Nebraska-Kearney. In the first match of the weekend, the Cowgirls defeated Minnesota-Moorhead 2-1 Friday afternoon on goals by
Acacia Rodriguez and
Ruth Covey.
NMHU's record now stands at 2-1-1 on the season.
The Golden Bears, ranked 23rd in this week's United Soccer Coaches Division II Poll, tallied three goals in the first half and added another 15 minutes into the second half to account for the scoring in Sunday's match.
CSP out shot the Cowgirls 18-4.
"Playing a nationally ranked team was a great test for us," said Coach
Amanda Evans after the match. "We were able to get some more players off the bench and see how some pieces fit for the future. The players improved in the second half and really came together, so we are very happy with our progression in this tough match."
Up next, the Cowgirls will be in Lubbock this Wednesday afternoon for a 3:00 pm (MT) match with Lubbock Christian University.
