Lubbock, Texas - For the second time in just over twelve months, the NMHU soccer team traveled to Lubbock for a match with Lubbock Christian. The Lady Chaps defeated the Cowgirls by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
NMHU is now 2-2-1 on the season.
The host Lady Chaps scored three first half goals on a sweltering afternoon in west Texas.
Acacia Rodriguez put the Cowgirls on the scoreboard in the match's 81st minute when she converted a penalty kick.
"This program has struggled for a long time. We are building it back up. We are going to have moments of inconsistent play," said Head Coach
Amanda Evans in comments after Wednesday's match. "I think the best thing about today was that we came out in the second half and played better. The future is bright for Highlands."
The Cowgirls conclude non-conference play on Friday evening when they play West Texas A&M on Friday at 6:00 pm (MT).
