Soccer Falls At West Texas A&M On Friday Evening

Canyon, Texas - The Cowgirls dropped a 1-0 decision at West Texas A&M on Friday evening to close out the non-conference portion of the 2024 season. The loss moves the Cowgirls 2-3-1 on the season. Friday's match was the fifth consecutive match away from Las Vegas, equaling the longest stretch of consecutive road games since 2016.

The Cowgirls and the Lady Buffs played back and forth through the early part of the match until West Texas A&M scored at the 32:46 mark of the match, the match's only goal.

The Cowgirls had a season high 14 shots on Friday out-shooting the Lady Buffs.8-7 in the second half.

"Proud of the way our players played. We had just as many shots on goal as the other team, it was a good battle," commented Head Coach Amanda Evans. "This one just didn't fall our way. But we have good energy to take into conference play next week."

Up next, the Cowgirls continue their play away from home this coming Friday when they travel to Grand Junction to open the 2024 RMAC season against Colorado Mesa.
