Salt Lake City, Utah - The New Mexico Highlands soccer team dropped a 6-1 decision to Westminster on Sunday afternoon on Dumke Field. The Cowgirls, playing their seventh consecutive match away from Las Vegas, are now 2-5-1 overall and 0-2-0 in RMAC play.
The Griffins tallied four goals in the span of fifteen minutes en route to a lead at the half.
Jennifer Mueller scored her first goal of the season, of a pass from
Paige Gowen, to get the Cowgirls on the board early in the second half. Westminster added a pair of goals late to close out the match.
"We had a tough weekend against some strong teams. I am proud of our players for pushing through," said Head Coach
Amanda Evans. "In both games we had better stats in our second half, so we like to see that continued improvement. We celebrated our first conference goal, and look forward to many more to come."
The Cowgirls return to action this Friday afternoon when the host Fort Lewis in a 1:00 pm match.
