Juliana Aragon and
Kapiolani Anitielu combined for 58 points as the Cowgirls beat Chadron State 95-76 on Saturday afternoon.
NMHU improves to 7-7 overall and 4-4 in the RMAC. The Cowgirls led wire-to-wire as they defeated the Eagles for the fourth consecutive time.
The Cowgirls jumped out to a 35-22 lead at the end of the first quarter. They extended that lead to 54-37 at halftime and never let the Eagles get closer than 10 points in the second half as they cruised to the 19 point win.
Juliana Aragon poured in 34 points, the most by a Cowgirl this season, to lead all scorers. Aragon added three assists and three steals.
Kapiolani Anitielu, coming off her 28 point performance on Thursday night, had 24 points, three assists, and six steals.
Aniya Johnson was NMHU's leading rebounder with five.
The Cowgirls shot a season's best 52.9% from the floor.
Chadron State had a 34-24 edge in rebounds.
NMHU forced 27 Chadron State turnovers that they converted into 27 points.
Saturday's 95 points is the most scored by a Cowgirls team since the 2013-14 team recorded 99 points against Chadron State on January 14, 2014.
The Cowgirls play their next five games on the road starting on Thursday when they travel to UCCS for a 5:00 pm game. Their next home game is on Saturday, February 8th.
