Denver, Colorado - Nationally ranked MSU-Denver used a strong second half to defeat the NMHU 79-68 on Thursday night at the Auraria Events Center. The loss dropped the Cowboys to 8-11 overall and 1-10 in the RMAC.
Thursday's first half featured six lead changes and saw the score tied seven times before the host Roadrunners took a 35-33 lead to the halftime break. MSU-Denver then outscored the Cowboys 17-3 in the first five and half minutes of the second half en route to the 11 point victory.
Kenard Richardson was the game's leading scorer with 18 points.
Delon McCloud (11 points) and
Kyrie Thomas (10 points) were in double figures for the Cowboys.
Richardson,
Blessin Kimble, and
Ezzy Dawson each had seven rebounds.
As a team, the Cowboys were 24-64 from the floor and 16-22 from the free throw line.
The Cowboys are at Regis on Saturday afternoon for a 3:00 pm contest. The Rangers edged visiting Adams State 84-83 on Thursday.
