Colorado Springs, Colorado - The New Mexico Highlands cross country teams ran at the UCCS XC open on Friday morning in their final race before the RMAC Championships.
In the men's 8k freshman
Xavier Martinez ran another personal best as he completed the course in 26:27 which placed him 15th in Friday's field.
"This was another opportunity for us to see the course the RMAC Championships will be run on," said Coach
Bob DeVries. "Xavier, in particular, is a very cerebral runner so today's effort should pay dividends when we come back at the end of the month.'
Summer Abeyta posted a personal best as completed the women's 6k in 22:40.3 and was the fourth fastest runner from a Division II team.
"Summer kept moving up and racing with focus. She was 20th at the 2k and kept passing people," said DeVries.
NMHU returns to Monument Valley Park on Saturday October 25th for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships.
