Lakewood, Colorado- The Cowgirls faced the Colorado Christian Cougars on Sunday.
The Cowgirls fell behind early in the fifth minute when the Cougars scored their first goal of the game. And then in the 28th minute, they would get their second, giving them a 2-0 lead.
However, in the 41st minute, sophomore
Jacquie McPherson would score her first career Cowgirls goal off the assist from Vivi Muñoz. Muñoz took an initial shot, and McPherson got it off the rebound and put it in the back of the net. The one-point lead would then increase with nine seconds left in the half, the Cougars struck again to make it a 3-1 lead headed into the second half.
The second half was all Cougars, as Colorado Christian would score four more times. Final 7-1.
STATS: The Cowgirls took 12 shots second most all season in a game, and 7 of the shots were on goal, including the goal by McPherson.
Looking Ahead: Cowgirls are back in action next weekend on Halloween as they take on the Orediggers of Colorado School of Mines at 1 PM for the Cowgirls Pink Out Game to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. Then, the following Sunday, November 2nd, will be Senior Day, presented by Quality Care, against Colorado State University-Pueblo, as the Cowgirls will celebrate three seniors.
