Cowgirls Drop Home Finale

Las Vegas, New Mexico- The Cowgirls fought hard in the home finale but came up just short.

The Cowgirls jumped out to a lead in the first half on a goal by Senior Kate Rayner, her third on the year and eighth in her Cowgirl career. Cowgirls take a 1-0 lead into the half.

In the second half, the Thunderwolves opened the scoring quickly with two goals, one in the 50th minute and another in the 57th.

The Cowgirls would not go away quietly as Vivi Muñoz scored her first goal of the season. Tied the game at two a piece. However, it would not be enough as CSU-Pueblo would score two more times as the final would be 4-2

Senior Spotlight:
The Cowgirls had three Seniors honored during Senior Day today. First is Isavel Glenn. From right down the road at Robertson High School, Glenn is pursuing a forestry major, and as a Cowgirl, she has two goals, one of which comes this season against UCCS. Glenn is the third member of her family to be a Student-Athlete at NMHU; both her parents were Highlands athletes, her father played baseball, and her mother was a Cowgirl on the pitch, too.

Next is Kate Rayner, the motor of this program over the four years she has been a Cowgirl. Rayner comes from Jurupa Valley, California, and has seven goals as a Cowgirl as well as an honorable mention All-RMAC honor in 2024, but has been on the RMAC Women's Soccer Academic Honor Roll in 2023 & 2024.

The final Cowgirl will be Devyn Gunn, who earlier this season eclipsed 4,000 minutes in a Cowgirl uniform. Gunn has been the "Iron Cowgirl" for the program. The four-year starter has racked up the minutes on the pitch, but off the pitch has been named to the RMAC Academic Honor roll twice (2023 and 2024), as well as the CSC Academic All-District. Pursuing a major in Pre-Professional Health degree as a Cowgirl, the Las Cruces native, like all these seniors, has been a pillar of consistency in the purple and white.

Looking Ahead:
Cowgirls wrap up season, Wednesday, November 5th, at Adams State to close out the season.
