Cross Country At NCAA Regionals On Saturday

Las Vegas, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands University cross country teams are set to compete at the 2025 NCAA Division II South Central Regionals this Saturday morning in Pueblo, Colorado. The meet will be hosted by Colorado State University Pueblo and held at the Walking Stick Golf Course.

In a stark contrast to last year's Regionals in Denver, the weather is expected to be sunny with temperatures in the 40s at race time.

Weldon Chebon finished eighth in last year's Regional to qualify for the NCAA Championships. The men's team posted a 16th place finish while the women were 24th.

Coach Bob DeVries feels that racing on the Walking Stick Golf Course earlier this season will pay dividends for his runners on Saturday.

After last month's trip to Pueblo, DeVries said, "Glad we went - it's a deceptive course with some interesting elevation changes. It's a course you have to think your way around."

The 2025 NCAA Division II National Championship meet is on November 22nd in Kenosha, Wisconsin on the historic Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course. The full field for the championship will be announced on November 10th.
