Billings, Montana - Angelo State handed the Cowboys an 83-68 set back on the second day of the D2CCA Tipoff Classic at The Trailhead on Saturday morning. NMHU is now 0-2 on the young season while the Rams improve to 2-0.
The two teams traded the lead ten times in the first nine minutes, with neither side pulling ahead by more than four points during that stretch. Angelo State then closed the half on a strong run, building a 46–33 advantage by halftime.
NMHU battled in the second half but could not overcome the Angelo State lead falling 83-68.
Five Cowboys scored in double digits led by
BJ Comer's 11 point effort.
Latavious Morris,
Dontae Walker,
Johannes Kirsipuu, and
Caileb Parham scored 10 points apiece.
Nikk Williams led the Cowboys with six rebounds.
Angelo State held a 39-30 edge in rebounding.
The Cowboys close out play in Montana with an early tip on Sunday morning when they face Central Missouri at 9:00 am (MT).
