Cowgirls Fall Late in Fourth

Las Vegas, New Mexico -The Cowgirls finished the week off with a home game against Adams State.

1st Half: NMHU 32-Adams State (ASU) 36

Slow Start for the Cowgirls to start today's game, but following the media timeout in the first quarter, the offense began to find its stride, and they headed into the second quarter, Grizzlies 17, Cowgirls 14.

The Cowgirls' defense came out in the second half and locked down the Grizzlies. Adams State opened the quarter 1-4 shooting. The Cowgirls were also controlling the rebounding in the first half, outrebounding Adams State 19-16. Out of the media timeout, the Grizzlies got back in the groove, headed into the half. Adams State leads by 4.

2nd Half NMHU 50-61 ASU 52-71

Both offenses seemed not to be able to miss out of the half, and Kamalani Anitielu opened the 3rd with a pair of threes. However, it would not stop there. The Cowgirls caught fire, and during the media timeout, ASU found its offense and began lighting up the scoreboard. A late layup at the end of the third would give the Grizzlies the lead.

Adams State opened the final quarter playing fast and getting multiple second chances, and it proved too much for the Cowgirls, who fell.

Aspen Salazar would lead the Cowgirls in scoring with 17 points in tonight's loss.

Up Next: The Cowgirls hit the road for an exhibition match Saturday against the Air Force Academy.
