Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowgirls picked up a big win Thursday night by downing visiting Colorado Christian University 62-57. With the win, NMHU is 13-10 overall and 10-7 in the RMAC. After tonight's action around the conference the Cowgirls are tied for sixth place with UCCS.
Thursday's game featured 10 lead changes and saw the score tied 10 times. In fact, the score was tied at the end of the first quarter, at half-time, and after three quarters of play. The Cowgirls outscored the visiting Cougars 15-10 in the fourth quarter to put the game in the win column.
As has become their habit this season, the Cowgirls forced 26 Colorado Christian turnovers that they converted into 20 points in the game.
Four Cowgirls scored in double-figures led by
Aspen Salazar's 13 points.
Juliana Aragon added 11 points while freshmen
Aniya Johnson and
Essynce Contreraz each scored 10 points.
Aragon handed out a game high six assists.
NMHU held a 35-32 edge in rebounds.
Coming up on Saturday is a huge match-up with UCCS. Tip-off is set for 1:00 pm. Saturday is also Senior Day presented by Quality Care.
