Spearfish, South Dakota - The Cowboys closed out the 2024-25 campaign with an 81-66 loss at Black Hills State on Saturday afternoon. NMHU ends the season at 12-16 overall and 5-15 in the RMAC.
Freshman KJ Lamonte scored a team high 19 points to pace the Cowboys. He was 7-12 from the floor and a perfect five for five from beyond the arc.
Senior
Kenard Richardson had 12 points and
Blessin Kimble added 10 points. Richardson finished the regular season averaging 14.8 points per game which is sixth best in the RMAC.
Kyrie Thomas had three assists to lead NMHU. Thomas also went two for three to the Top 10 in the RMAC in three-point field goal percentage at 36.1% and three -point field goals made per game with 2.0.
Saturday's game saw the two teams go back and forth in the opening half before Black Hills State took a 36-30 lead at the half. The Cowboys never led in the second half as the Yellow Jackets pulled away for the 15 point win.
