Ivan Smith captured the 165 pound championship at the NCAA Division II Super Regional on Saturday at Mountaineer Fieldhouse to advance to the 2025 NCAA Division II national Championship.
Smith started Saturday by defeating Alexander Holguin of Colorado Mesa by a major decision of 13-3. In The quarterfinals he topped Patrik Leder of Simon Fraser by fall (6:39). In the semifinals Smith took a 5-1 decision from Trenton Munoz of Nebraska-Kearney. The Championship he defeated Kyle Botelho of San Francisco State by a 9-2 decision.
The Cowboys finished in 10th place with 20.5 points.
The NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships are being held in Indianapolis March 14-15 at Corteva Coliseum.
