Weldon Chebon of New Mexico Highlands University has been named to The Stride Report's (TSR) 2025 Preseason Division II Cross Country Top 25, coming in at No. 12 in the national rankings released this week.
"
Weldon Chebon arguably has the highest ceiling of anyone ranked outside of our preseason top-10. After all, he was a comfortable All-American finisher as a true freshman and won more of his 2024 regular season meets than not....," TSR noted in its evaluation of Chebon.
Chebon won the 2024 HU XC Jam in September and then followed that up eight days later by winning the Dallas Baptist Old Glory Gallup. He closed out 2024 by running a 20:14.8 to earn All-American honors at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Sacramento.
New Mexico Highlands opens the 2025 season on August 30th at the Lori Fitzgerald Open in Las Cruces.
