Las Vegas, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands Cross Country teams will host the annual HU XC Jam this Friday afternoon at the Gene Torres Golf Course in historic Las Vegas. Races will get underway at 2:00 pm.
Friday will be the third race of the 2025 season for NMHU having competed at New Mexico State in late August and Texas Tech mid-September.
Both NMHU teams are expected at full strength for the first time this season on Friday.
Last year the Cowgirls captured the top four places in the race led by
Summer Abeyta who won the 5k event completing the course in 19:03.8. In the men's 7k,
Weldon Chebon (21:25.6) and
James Kurui (21:30.2) led the Cowboys to a strong finish
In addition to the host Cowboys and Cowgirls, Oklahoma Panhandle State, Northern New Mexico, Eastern New Mexico, Navajo Tech, Dine' College, and El Paso Community College are expected to compete in this year's event.
