Las Vegas, New Mexico - New Mexico Highlands Cross Country hosted the 33rd edition of the HU XC Jam on Friday afternoon at the Gene Torres Golf Course with both the men's and women's teams claiming the top spot in their respective races.
The Cowgirls claimed the top two spots in the year's race, led by
Joan Kuyo (17:43.14) and
Summer Abeyta (18:26.42). Tylor Begay (19:36.02),
Hailey Renteria (20:03.82), and
Harlee Jaramillo (22:07.91) rounded out the top five for NMHU.
In the men's 7k, the Cowboys swept the top three places en route to the team championship. Freshman
Xavier Martinez was the top finisher at 21:53.75. He was followed closely by
James Kurui (21:57.94) and
Weldon Chebon (22:01.30) who finished second and third respectively.
Alonso Torres (25:39.71) and Jude Martinwz (26:06.11) rounded out the Cowboys top five.

NMHU will be in Colorado next Friday afternoon for the South Central Regional Preview hosted by CSU-Pueblo on the Walking Stick Golf Course.
