Cowboys Home Finale Friday Night

Las Vegas, New Mexico - New Mexico Highlands wrestling is at home Friday night at 6:00 p.m. to host the Western Colorado Mountaineers inside the Wilson Complex.  

The Cowboys, who are slowly making a climb into the top 25 team rankings, receiving 6 total as of 01/22/2026, in the latest NWCA Division II Top 25, are coming off a 38-3 loss to #1 Central Oklahoma last Saturday. Despite the result, New Mexico Highlands picked up a win at 165 with Junior Ivan Smith Jr. whose currently ranked number eight picking up a win against #10 Bryce Dauphin, furthering his run as an All-American hopeful at the 2026 National Championships. 

Western Colorado, a fellow member of the RMAC, bested the Cowboys 3-47 last season in Gunnison. The Mountaineers will take the trip to Las Vegas after their first of back-to-back duals against Colorado State University Pueblo. Both teams will come into the dual 6-4, with a win for either program likely boosting their chances of being put into the NWCA Division II Top 25, as both teams are receiving votes.
