Cowgirls Fall in Massive Conference Game

Las Vegas, NM-The Cowgirls had a massive conference matchup in Historic Las Vegas, New Mexico.

1st Half: Fort Lewis (FLC) 43- NMHU 28
The Cowgirls started off the game 0 for 4 with four turnovers at the start of the game. Meanwhile, Fort Lewis was driving in the lane and getting the tough finishes to start the game. Aspen Salazar got the Cowgirls on the board first with a free throw, and the Cowgirls' first field goal came from Adrianna Torrez. Skyhawks lead by nine, and the Cowgirls were 2/14 from the field in the first quarter.

The second quarter started with both teams exchanging punches. However, the Cowgirls hit a rough patch as they were struggling to get baskets and were hurting themselves with turnovers. The Skyhawks did a lot of their damage from beyond the arc; the Cowgirls were 2-11 in the first half.

2nd Half: FLC 59- 78- NMHU 43-58
The Cowgirls hit their stride in the third despite the height mismatch that was to the advantage of the Skyhawks. They were able to get the ball inside, but turnovers depleted the Cowgirls, and later in the third, FLC denied the Cowgirls' ability to get the ball inside.

In the fourth quarter, the Skyhawks continued to swarm the ball and knock down perimeter shots, which proved the difference as the Cowgirls fell.

Up Next: The Cowgirls are on the road with Westminster in Salt Lake City and the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction in a tough road test.
