Colorado Springs, Colorado - New Mexico Highlands rallied in the second half to defeat UCCS 86-64 on Saturday afternoon at the Gallogly Events Center. With the win, the Cowboys close the regular season at 13-18 overall and 11-9 in the RMAC, securing the No. 7 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
UCCS built a 42-31 halftime lead, and the advantage grew to as many as 14 points early in the second half. The Cowboys steadily chipped away at the deficit before rallying late to seize control and pull away for the victory.
Five Cowboys reached double figures, led by
BJ Comer's career-high 17 points.
Dontae Walker added 16 points, while
Trey Tate and
Ramiah Adedigba contributed 10 points apiece.
As a team, New Mexico Highlands shot 51.9 percent from the field and connected on five three-pointers. The Cowboys also out rebounded UCCS 37-32, with Walker pulling down a team-high nine boards. NMHU forced 13 turnovers and converted them into 18 points.
The Cowboys now turn their attention to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament, returning to postseason play for the first time in four seasons. They will travel to Grand Junction for a quarterfinal match up against Colorado Mesa on Tuesday at 7:30 pm. Complete coverage on the
