Las Vegas, New Mexico – Cowgirl Volleyball play first home conference games this week.
Year Three: This is the third season for the Cowgirls under the direction of head coach
Meg Grose as the Cowgirls have made significant strides since she has taken the helm.
Last Season: The Cowgirls finished 12-16 last season and 4-10 in conference play while also having a home winning record on the Purple Floor of the Wilson Center.
In her second season leading the program, Grose guided the Cowgirls to a big turnaround in the 2025 campaign, recording the program's most wins since 2013 and securing its first home record above .500 in more than 20 years.
Under her direction, New Mexico Highlands has produced back-to-back all-conference selections.
RMAC Poll: The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) released the 2026 Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll. New Mexico Highlands received 52 points, good for a 12th place finish, in the voting by the conference's 15 coaches.

The Cowgirls made their way to Grand Junction Colorado to face the Mavericks
The Mavericks opened set one, going on an eight-point run, taking a commanding lead at 9-1 early in the first set. That wasn't going to be the only run the Colorado Mesa would go on as they went on a five-point run two points later, taking a commanding lead and it was too much to overcome for the Cowgirls as they would fall in set one.
Momentum was all Colorado Mesa early in the second match going on another eight-point run. However, the Cowgirls then went on a 6-2 run to pull within a couple of points after that the Mavericks outside hitters took over and allowed them to take a commanding lead and were able to run away with set two.
Middle of the third set the Cowgirls had a four-point lead. However, a fast momentum swing led to a six-point run for the Mavericks and the Cowgirls continued to fight but in the end the run was too much of a deficit to overcome and the Cowgirls fell in the end and would conclude their trip out west.
Scouting The Opposition
Adams State University:
The Grizzlies currently sit at 5-7 overall and 1-1 in RMAC play thus far. Andre Foster is in his first season as the head coach of the Adams State program after coaching at University of New Haven and guiding the Chargers, through their transition to the Division I level, he also has had stops at Xavier University in Cincinnati Ohio.
Colorado School of Mines:
The Orediggers will play the Cowgirls on Friday. They enter the matchup with a 7-3 overall record and are 0-2 in conference play. Jamie Magalei is in season 19 at the helm of the programs and as the .723 winning percentage since taking over the program and has only lost once to the Cowgirls in her time as the head coach.
