Las Vegas, NM– A day full of volleyball at the Wilson Center saw the first Volleyball tournament hosted in Las Vegas in over a decade.
 
Game One: vs. Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers
The Cowgirls were on fire to start the game with a 5-0 run before a block by the Rangers stalled the Cowgirls run.

Marissa Sandoval-Moya was on fire from the service line serving up ace after ace. After being tied at 11 The momentum then swung to the Cowgirls outscoring the Rangers 14-6 to capture the first set.
 
Set Two started very similar to set one as the Cowgirls went on a seven-point run to give them a commanding lead early.

After the Rangers pulled within two the Cowgirls home crowd got active making the Wilson Center a loud and hostile environment.

The Rangers found life and pulled within two making set two a battle that the Cowgirls called a timeout to slow the momentum the Rangers had built. The Cowgirls were able to slow down the momentum but not much as they would battle out set two but eventually captured it.
 
Set three was like a heavy weight bout the two teams exchange blows and the Rangers outscored the Cowgirls mid-way through the third set to take a three-point lead. The Rangers kept their foot on the gas pedal and continued to pull away and eventually captured set three to send it to a fourth set.
 
Set Four the Cowgirls started fast and were able to maintain the lead throughout the set. With a platoon of Cowgirls scoring in the fourth set the Rangers on their heels finessing points as well as laying the lumber with kills the Cowgirls were not afraid to swing throughout the match. Elise Fourt closed out the match with a missile of a kill.
 
Game Two: vs. Western New Mexico Highlands
The energy inside the Wilson Center was electric and the emotions were turned up to 100 as the Cowgirls battled, their in-state rival the Mustangs of Western New Mexico.

Elise Fourt and Duda Carvalho picked up where they left off in the game prior to going right after it, giving the Cowgirls the slight lead early. However, the scoring for the Cowgirls was spread yet another platoon of Cowgirls early in set one. The Mustangs would not back down as they took a 17-14 lead, forcing the Cowgirls to use a timeout.
The second set saw the Mustangs jumping out to an early lead The Mustangs began to pull away with no slowing down in sight either. The Mustangs had taken the crowd out of the game, and it was completely left up to the Cowgirls to battle from a deficit.

Little by little the Cowgirls began to shoot their way out of a jam and forced a Mustangs timeout. However, it would be a little too late as the Mustangs would eventually get the win of the set to put the Cowgirls behind 2-0 headed to the third set.

Back against the wall Cowgirls were in a for a battle and the Mustangs started out the gates fast, taking a early 3-0 before the Cowgirls would eventually find their way on board. However, the Cowgirls were alive in the fight as they would make it a one-point ball game as the game later in the third set.

The Mustangs did find a way to pull ahead early and would end the set and the match completed the sweep.

UP NEXT: The Cowgirls will finish out the Meadow City Classic facing the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm at 2:00 PM and the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds at 7:00 PM
