Mike Marshall enters his sixth season as the associate head baseball coach at New Mexico Highlands.
 
Marshall, who was a member of the 1981 and 1988 World Series Champion Los Angeles Dodgers, played in Major League Baseball from 1981-91 with the Dodgers, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox and the California (now Anaheim) Angels. In game two of the 1988 World Series, he helped propel the Dodgers to a 6-0 win against the heavily favored Oakland Athletics with a three-run home run in the bottom of the third.
 
Drafted by the Dodgers in the sixth round of the 1978 amateur draft, Marshall is no stranger to New Mexico. He was named the 1981 Minor League Player of the Year by Baseball America after winning the Pacific Coast League’s (PCL) Triple Crown with the Albuquerque Dukes, finishing with a .373 average, 34 home runs and 137 RBI’s. To date, he is the last player to win the Triple Crown in the PCL.
 
Marshall made his major league debut on Sept. 7, 1981 with the Dodgers, going 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored in the Dodgers 5-1 win against the San Francisco Giants.
 
Marshall also was named to the 1984 National League All-Star team. He finished the season with 127 hits in 495 at-bats with (.257) with 21 home runs and 65 RBI’s. For his career, he batted .279 with 148 home runs and 530 RBI’s.
 
Following a stint with the Tokyo Ham Fighters in 1992-93, he was the hitting coach for Glendale CC (1993-1994) and Texas State (1995-97). Marshall returned to baseball in 2005 as a hitting coach for El Paso CC (2005-06). From 2006-2011, he was both the President and Field Manager of the North American League and the League Commissioner and Field Manager of the North American League in Yuma, Arizona, and Chico, California. 

Most recently, Marshall was the League Commissioner and Field Manager of the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball in 2012-13 and a Field Manager with the Fort Worth Cats from 2013-2014.
 
From 2006-2010, Marshall – in collaboration with other professional baseball players – travelled to Germany and Slovenia to run baseball camps for kids.
 
Currently residing in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Mike Marshall has a wife, Mary, and two children, Michael Jr. and Marcheta.
