Andrew Davison NMHU MBB 2024-25

Andrew Davison

Andrew Davison is entering his fifth year as an assistant coach for the NMHU men's basketball program.

Davison comes to NMHU from Northwest Kansas Tech (NJCAA) where he helped recruit and develop Miles Gibson and Chris Freeman during the 2018-19 season. Gibson eventually was named First-Team All-KJCCC West and signed with Eastern Michigan while Freeman was named All-KJCCC Honorable Mention and signed with University of Texas-Rio Grande. Five players off the team moved on to four-year schools.

This isn't Davison's first stop at NMHU as he was the external operations specialist/assistant coach for the men's basketball program in 2017-18 under coach Craig Snow. The Cowboys went 15-13 and helped in the recruitment of Raquan Mitchell and Gerad Davis (both All-RMAC selections last year) before leaving. Prior to that Davison was a graduate assistant at Colorado State under Larry Eustachy and the team took second in the Mountain West, made it to the MW Tournament championship game and won a game in the NIT.

Davison is a graduate of Emporia State where he played two years for the Hornets under David Moe. While at Emporia, the Hornets enjoyed a 16-0 start and No. 7 national ranking, both school records. He helped lead Emporia State to the only MIAA Tournament championship game (2008) in school history while receiving all-tournament team honors and played in the NCAA DII National Tournament (2007) for just the second time in school history. Davison signed and played a year at Binghamton University (2005-06) and also played one year at Marshalltown Community College - helping the program set a school record for wins in a season (24).

Davison grew up in Garden City, Kansas, where his father was the coach at Garden City Community College for 17 years. He moved to Virginia as a junior in high school as his father became one of the first head coaches in the inaugural season of the G-League and went on to coach 10 more years in the pros. Davison attended Cave Spring High School and helped the team win its first ever state title.
