Stephen Miera joined the New Mexico Highlands men’s basketball coaching staff in January of 2014 as a graduate assistant coach and will be in the same role for the 2014-15 season.
Stephen has been around basketball, either as a coach or around a collegiate team, for more than eight years. He began by helping with the University of New Mexico basketball team in 2001 before working as a basketball coach at various levels in the Albuquerque Public School system from 2003-2008. He was responsible for day to day operational management; including daily practices, scouting, tutoring, site maintenance and reporting game statistics to the media.
Miera has two different stints in helping to coach AAU basketball, including the Force Under-16 Boys Basketball Team during the tournament season in 2006. From 2011-2013, Miera was the head coach of the traveling 15-17 boys basketball team.
Other professions Miera has been involved include: a mathematics teacher for the Albuquerque Public School system in 2013-2014, Market Authority Inc. from 2011-2012 and with Miera Consulting from 2001-2014.
