Coach Stephen Miera returns to New Mexico Highlands University following a two year stint as a recruiting specialist and professional trainer working with collegiate and pro athletes in Mexico and a season spent leading Robert F. Kennedy High School to a perfect 18-0 record and the championship of the Albuquerque Charter School Athletic League. Miera last served at NMHU as an assistant during head coach Craig Snow’s inaugural season.
Miera is a lifelong New Mexico resident and graduate of Valley High School in Albuquerque. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of New Mexico and earned his Master’s degree from New Mexico Highlands University in Human Performance and Sport.
Miera brings an extensive basketball resume to his work with the Cowboy program. He coached alongside Danny Brown for six years as an assistant at Albuquerque’s Highland High School and followed that with three years coaching in the AAU travel circuit. Miera then spent two years as a Graduate Assistant basketball coach at NMHU.
Coach Miera is enthusiastic about his return to New Mexico Highlands and working alongside Coach Craig Snow for a second time. “I jumped at the opportunity to return to New Mexico Highlands, “ said Miera, “I’m excited to share my passion for basketball and to help coach Snow build a program we can be proud of here at Highlands.”
