Cody Cole is entering his third season as the head coach of the New Mexico Highlands University Wrestling team. As a coach at Highlands, Cole has coached one national qualifier and one All-American. The team has finished 36th in the country in 2022. Cole coached Allen Michel, an All-American at 174 pounds and the Elite 90 Award winner in 2022 for Division II wrestling. He has also had 8 NWCA Academic All-Americans and 6 regional placers. 
Coming from four years at the helm of the Cloud County T-Birds, Cole coached a national champion, Zach Ferris, 4 All-Americans, 28 national qualifiers and three West-Central District Champions. He led the T-Birds to finishes of 11th and 14th in the nation during his time at Cloud County.  
Cole is a 2013 graduate from Western State Colorado University (Gunnison, CO.), earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He also holds a master’s in Special Education through Grand Canyon University and a Masters of Business Administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. 
On the mat, Cole was a three-year starter for the Mountaineers under legendary head coach, Miles Van Hee. He would go on to be a three-time letter winner and a member of the Western State’s RMAC championship team in 2009. 
He and his wife Nikki, and their three sons Easton, Evan, and Eli reside in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
