LAS VEGAS, N.M. - The Las Vegas, New Mexico, area Subway® restaurants and Manger Regina Denardo is pleased to announce that volleyball senior Jessica Piperhas been named the Subway Eat Fresh Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 29.
 
Piper had a great week, helping the Cowgirls win their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match of the season against Chadron State. On Sept. 25 against Black Hills State, Piper achieved the rare libero double-double, leading the team with 26 digs and 15 assists. She followed that with 10 digs in a straight-set win at Chadron State Sept. 26 before finishing with 18 digs in Highlands lost to UC-Colorado Springs.
 
Piper finished the week with 4.91 digs per set and is now seventh in the conference with 4.06 digs per set.
 
New for the 2014-2015 school year, a Subway® Student-Athlete of the Week will be chosen every week for the athletic year. Every student-athlete chosen for the weekly award will be eligible to win the Subway Eat Fresh® Student-Athlete of the Year award following the 2014-2015 academic year. While the weekly award will be based on athletic prowess, the yearly award will be bestowed upon an athlete based on success not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom and community involvement.
