LAS VEGAS, N.M.- The Las Vegas, New Mexico area Subway® restaurants and Manger Regina Denardo is pleased to announce that Salcia Slack of the Cowgirl track and field team has been named the Subway Eat Fresh Student-Athlete of the Week.

Slack had an outstanding weekend at the NCAA DII National Championships. Slack took home two national championships. Her first national championship came in the pentathlon. She won the final three events; shot put, long jump, and the 800m run. She ended the event with 4,172 points, 273 more points than the second place finisher. She took home the gold in the triple jump with a jump of 12.88 meters (42'3.25"), 0.43 meters farther than the second place finisher. Slack also finished sixth in the long jump with a jump of 6.02 meters (19'9'").

In its second year, the Subway® Student-Athlete of the Week will be chosen every week for the athletic year. Every student-athlete chosen for the weekly award will be eligible to win the Subway Eat Fresh® Student-Athlete of the Year award following the 2015-2016 academic year. While the weekly award will be based on athletic prowess, the yearly award will be bestowed upon an athlete based on success not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom and community involvement.
