The NMHU Cowboys rounded out their final RMAC series of 2010 with a 99-87 win over the Thunderwolves of CSU-Pueblo on 12/18 in the John A. Wilson Complex. The Cowboys would never trail in the game as the Cowboys jumped out to a five point lead early and never looked back. The Cowboys are now 8-1 on the season and 5-1 in RMAC play.
The Cowboys would lead by as much as 21 en route to their eighth win of the season. The Cowboys would finish their night shooting 51% from the field and 47% from three point land. The Cowboys defense would again cause fits for their opponents as they finished with seven blocked shots and six steals for the game.
“I am very proud of our guys; we got out to an early lead against a very athletic and well coached team. I'm proud of how our guys answered and pushed through to hold on for the win. My hats off to CSU-Pueblo for the way they came back and really made it tough on us,” said NMHU Head Coach Joe Harge following his Cowboys 99 – 87 win over the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves.
Thomas Manzano would finish the night leading all scorers with 23 points on the night. Manzano would also have three rebounds, one assist and two steals on the night.
Mindaugas Markevicius would come in a close second in scoring with 22 points on the night and one assist. Markevicius would have a great night from the charity stripe as he finished the night sinking 11 of 13 attempts. Rounding out the top Cowboy scorers would be
Mike Moody. Moody would finish with a double-double as he scored 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Moody would add in two blocked shots and two steals to his night's totals.
The NMHU Cowboys will have a break before the take on their next opponent. The Cowboys will be in action again on 12/30 when they travel to Phoenix, Ariz. to take on Grand Valley State in the Trip Sports Grand Canyon Classic.
