The NMHU Cowboys continued their winning ways on 1/22 as they hammered in-state RMAC rival the Mustangs of Western New Mexico University 115-99 in front of a raucous home crowd. The Cowboys and the Mustangs would play a tightly contested game throughout the first half. The Cowboys would pull ahead in the final minutes of the first half to lead 45-37 going into halftime. In the second half, the Cowboys would run away with it as they would lead by as much as 25 points in the second half en route to their third straight win. With the win, the Cowboys improve to 13-4 overall and 9-4 in RMAC play.
The Cowboys would finish the night shooting an even 50% from the field and 69% from the free throw line. The Cowboy defense would force the Mustangs to turn over the ball 16 times throughout the night. Defensively, the Cowboys would add in five team blocks and four steals for the night.
The Cowboys would finish the night with four players in double figures.
Thomas Manzano would finish the night leading all scorers with his first double-double of the season. Manzano would finish with 34 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, one blocked shot and three steals.
Momcilo Latinovic would finish the night with his third double-double of the season with 18 points, 11 rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Mindaugas Markevicius finished with 13 points and one assist.
Chris Newsome would round out the Cowboys top scorers with 12 points, six rebounds, six assists and one blocked shot.
