Box Score The NMHU Cowboys hammered the Eagles of Northern New Mexico College 104-78 in front of their home crowd on 12/28. The Cowboys and the Eagles would play tight for the first eight minutes of play as the Cowboys would enjoy a slim 15-12 lead over Northern New Mexico at the 12 minute mark. From that point on, it would be all NMHU as the Cowboys would go into the halftime break leading 46-29. It would be more of the same in the second half as the Cowboys would lead by as much as 26 points en route to their fifth win of the season. With the win, the Cowboys improve to 5-5 on the season. The Cowboys will take the court again on 12/30 when they take on the OreDiggers of the Colorado School of Mines in Las Vegas, N.M.
The Cowboy defense would prove to be relentless throughout the night as the Pokes would force 20 Eagle turnovers. The Cowboys would also rack up nine steals and block six Northern New Mexico shots on the night.
Lionel Coleman led the way for the Pokes with a team high 13 points for the game. Coleman added in six rebounds, two assists and one steal for the night.
Ryan Gonzales would finish the night leading the Cowboys in three point field goals with three for the game. Gonzales would finish the night with 11 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Marquis Whitt rounds out the top three performers for the Cowboys with 11 points, five rebounds, one block and one steal for the night.
