The NMHU Cowgirls got back to their winning ways on 9/16 with a 1-0 victory over the Cougars of Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, Colo. The Cowgirls would score their lone goal early as
Janelle McGee would shoot a ball past the CCU goal keeper in the twelfth minute of play off a
Bianca Brambila pass. That would be McGee's second goal of the season. With the win, the Cowgirls even their season record at 2-2 on the year and start off Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play at 1-0 with their win over Colorado Christian.
Again, the Cowgirls defense would be the story of the day as they held the Cougars to seven shots on day, with only three of those shots being on goal. CCU would struggle with the tenacious Cowgirl defenders as
Jensen Keith and company would keep the Cougars at bay.
Shannon Delarosbil would play her first complete game of the season in the net for the Cowgirls and would finish the day with three saves in her 90 minutes played.
The Cowgirls would finish the day with 17 shots, with eight of them being on frame.
Julissa Rodriguez would lead all players in shots with six shots on the day, three being on goal.
Marci Johnson and
Janelle McGee would follow with three shots apiece. Johnson would have two shots on goal. McGee would finish with one shot on goal as well as the Cowgirls game winning goal.
