Cowboys Upend Grizzlies 90-84

Box Score The NMHU Cowboys made it three wins in a row on 1/7 with an exciting win over RMAC rival Adams State College by a final score of 90-84. The Cowboys jumped on the Grizzlies early on as they pulled to a 28-17 lead at the 10 minute mark in the first half. The Cowboys would lead by as much as 18 points in the first half of play and would lead 45-37 at the half. In the second half, the Cowboys kept the pressure on the Grizzlies pulling away by as much as 18 points. The Grizzlies would not back down as they continued to trade blows with the Cowboys and eventually pulled as close as 80-78 in the final two minutes of the game. The Cowboys would play strong in the final minutes of the very physical battle and capitalize on some ASC fouls by sinking four free throws in the final minute of play to seal their third straight victory in as many games 90-84. With the win, the Cowboys are now 8-6 overall and 6-4 in RMAC play. The Cowboys will hit the road this week as they travel to the state of Nebraska to take on Chadron State College on 1/13 and the University of Nebraska-Kearney on 1/14.

As a team the Cowboys finished the night shooting 41% from the field and 44% from three point land. The Cowboys would also improve from the free throw line, sinking 34-40 for an 85% free throw percentage on the night. The Cowboy defense would force 17 ASC turnovers and pull down 46 rebounds on the night.

Three Cowboys would finish the night in double figures. Momcilo Latinovic would lead all scorers on the night with a career high 35 points for the Cowboys. Latinovic would add in five rebounds, one assist and three steals to his night's totals.

Billy Austin finished the night with a tenacious defensive performance with six defensive rebounds and two blocked shots. Austin added in 11 points and one assist to his complete performance.

Ryan Gonzales rounds out the top three performers with 11 points, three rebounds and two steals on the night.

The Cowboys will hit the road this week for a Nebraska road swing as they take on Chadron State College Eagles on 1/13 and turn-around the next night to take on the Lopers of the University of Nebraska-Kearney on 1/14.
