Box Score Las Vegas, N.M. - The NMHU Cowgirls lost a close one against #23 Regis University, on Oct. 10, in three sets. The Cowgirls were in all three sets, but just could not get a win tonight in the John A. Wilson Complex. The Cowgirls, led by Head Coach
Bryan Crawford, fall to 1-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and 7-9 in overall play.
In the first set, the Cowgirls were hanging in there staying with the Rangers. Going back and forth until the Rangers started to pull away in the last couple of rallies and ended up grabbing the first set (25-20).
The second set was a tough one. Once again the Cowgirls and Rangers went back and forth with scoring. At one point the Cowgirls were up (10-9), but then the Rangers came back with a couple good plays to steal the second set from the Cowgirls (25-19).
In the final game, the Cowgirls battled to the end. The Cowgirls had the lead in the beginning of the set but lost it in the middle against Regis, but your Cowgirls fought to get back in the game and tie it up (24-24). The Cowgirls did well until the Rangers came back and ended the finally set to end tonight's match (28-26).
Tonight's top performers were
Darian Mullen with 12 kills,
Marina Samoa with 14 digs,
Alicia Moreno with 12 kills and 13 digs, and
Jessica Piper with 15 digs.
The Cowgirls will continue conference action on Friday, Oct. 11, against Metropolitan State University of Denver, in Las Vegas, N.M. Metro comes into the John A. Wilson Complex with a 4-2 conference record and 8-6 in overall play. Metro is currently sitting in fifth place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
