Box Score Spearfish, S.D. – The Cowgirl Volleyball team stole a big win against the Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets, on Oct. 18. The Cowgirls had three girls,
Bailey Weidner,
Tarissa Mellin, and
Alicia Moreno, in double-double figures against the Yellow Jackets. The Cowgirls, led by Head Coach
Bryan Crawford, move up to 3-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and 9-10 in overall play.
The Cowgirls started off slow in the first set losing (25-23), but came back in the second set and turned the tables on the Yellow Jackets.
Senior
Darian Mullen in the second set had 6 kills and freshman
Tarissa Mellin had 15 assists to end the second set (25-16).
In the third set, the Cowgirls had the lead (8-6) at first but then the Yellow Jackets came back and took the set from your Cowgirls (25-19).
In the fourth set, your Cowgirls had 21 kills all together to the Yellow Jackets' 10 kills.
Darian Mullen had six kills and
Alicia Moreno had five kills.
Tarissa Mellin had 19 assists to help your Cowgirls to take the fourth set (25-22).
The fifth set was tight the whole time. The Cowgirls were fighting until the end and came out on top (16-14).
