Box Score Golden, Colo. - The NMHU Cowgirl Soccer team endured their third defeat in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference against the no. 8 ranked Orediggers of Colorado School of Mines, by the final score of 3-0. The Orediggers had a heavy advantage in the shots by period category. They outshot the Cowgirls 11-5 in the first half. The Cowgirls were battling in the first half, but the Orediggers broke the tie in the 41
st minute. The Cowgirls were determined to continue fighting in the second half. The Orediggers once again in the second half had the leverage in the shots on goal. They would capitalize on the opportunity by scoring an additional two goals (in the 75
th and 79
th minutes) to lead them to victory. The Cowgirls, led by Head Coach
Justin Wagar, drop to 2-3-0 in the RMAC with a 4-3-2 record in overall play.

The Orediggers started their offensive attack early in the half. They took seven shots in the first 21 minutes of play and were looking to take an early lead. The Cowgirls' defensive stood firm against the offensive attack of the Orediggers for nearly the entire first half. The Orediggers scored the first goal of the match during the 41
st minute when Anna Evans received a short pass from Rachel Turner. Evans shot right post seven yards out, giving the Orediggers the 1-0 lead.
The Cowgirls came out in the second half and played with a sense of urgency. In the first 28 minutes of the second half they outshot the Orediggers 2-1. The Orediggers would find the net again in the 75
th minute. The goal came from a corner pass to deep right wing from about 26 yards out. The Orediggers would add another goal four minutes later in the 79
th minute. Jaclyn Knott received a short cross to the right wing and took a charging shot towards the right of the goalkeeper 14 yards away. When the final whistle was blown, the Orediggers were victorious in the match 3-0.
"We lost to another top 10 nationally ranked team for the second time in a two weeks," noted Coach Wagar. "We battled hard to start the second half but couldn't muster a goal. When All-American forward Anna Evans scored their second goal of the game it deflated our hopes of a comeback."
The Cowgirl Soccer team will continue conference action on Sunday, Oct. 6, when they return to Perkins Stadium to face the Mountaineers of Western State Colorado University at 1:00 p.m. The Mountaineers are currently in seventh place in the conference, with a 1-3-1 RMAC record and 4-4-1 in overall play.
