Las Vegas, N.M. - The New Mexico Highlands University Cowboys wrestling team returns to the mat this Sunday (Jan. 5) at 1 p.m. at La Cueva High School in Albuquerque N.M., for the Northwest Mutual "Border War Dual" against NAIA #14 Wayland Baptist University.
The Cowboys have been off from the mat the previous three weeks and they are very excited to return and perform. "We are looking to knock-off the rust and getting back to meat of the schedule," coach

The Cowboys have a very exciting young team, mostly consisting of freshmen and sophomores. Igor Gozmin is one of the seniors the team will be depending on as well as junior

Justin Rockhill and senior Igor Gozmin for their veteran leadership to continue to mold the Cowboys in the right direction in the dual season. All three are ready to lead the Cowboy Charge by battling in each of their dual matches this season.
Young Cowboys to keep an eye out for are sophomore
Erick Rangel at 125 pounds, sophomore
Orlando Guerra at 141 pounds, sophomore
Jesse Martinez at 149 pounds and redshirt sophomore
Juan Alvarado at 157 pounds. Rangel and Alvarado are leading the Cowboy charge this season by leading the team in victories.
Rangel is overall record thus far is 16-3 and Alvarado overall record is 15-3.
