Box Score RAPID CITY, S.D.- The winning streak goes on as the Cowboys take down South Dakota Mines 71-56.
Jonathon Mines and
Kendrick Nichols both had great games as they had 23 points and 22 points respectively.
The Cowboys had the three-point shot going as they made 16 to the Mines' 3 three pointers. Their first 18 points were scored on three pointers.
The Cowboys scored first in just 12 seconds and from that the boys had the lead the whole game. With six minutes left in the first half, the Cowboys had a 23-11 lead after a layup by
Ron Lawton. Lawton would also close out the half with a three pointer to help the Cowboys carry a 10-point lead into the half.
In the second half, the Hardrockers would put up a fight, as they would increase their shooting percentage. They would cut the deficit to 8 with 12:20 left. The Cowboys would increase their lead but missed shots gave the Hardrockers a chance to get back in the game.
The Hardrockers would use the opportunity to get the score down to 51-45 Cowboys with 7:55 in the game. The Cowboys would begin to shrink until two 3-pointers by
Kendrick Nichols helped get the boys back on track.
In the final four minutes of the game were all Cowboys. They ran away with the lead and gave the Hardrockers no chance to get back in the game.
This win marks their fifth straight win in conference and keeps them first in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
