Cowgirls Finish RMAC Championship In Seventh Place

SPEARFISH, S.D.- The Cowgirls entered the final day of the RMAC Outdoor Championships sitting in seventh place. The Cowgirls were able to add some points to the board, but were not able to move up as they finished in seventh place.

"Seventh place might seem like a let down coming off three straight conference championships, but we very proud of this team and how hard the women competed." said coach Bob DeVries Destiny continued our tradition of winning the RMAC multis title, Shanice reclaimed her long jump championship and we had huge improvement from seeding to placing in a number of events."

The Cowgirls started their day by adding eight points in the 4x100 relay when they finished in second place with a time of 46.97 seconds.  The bulk of the Cowgirls points on day three came in the 100m finals. Shanice McPherson came is second place (eight points), Stefania Gyamfi finished in seventh place (two points), and Shauna-Kay Franklyn finished in eighth place (one point).

Shanice McPherson also took home some metal in the 200 meter finals when she took home third with a time of 14.88 seconds.

"Erin came up huge in the shot, Shauna-Kay shocked everyone but her coaches to make the 100 final, Analisa and Jaylene had big personal records in the 5k and we almost pulled of a big upset in the 4x100. We had four returning All Americans who didn't compete this weekend due to injury and redshirting, that's a lot to overcome and I couldn't be more proud of how all our athletes stepped up."

Select members will be invited to participate in the South Central Regional next weekend in Canyon, Texas.

        Whitted, Gyamfi, McPherson, Morant took second place in the really with a time of 46.97
Triple Jump
         Destiny Dilworth took 6th in the event with a jump of 11.38 meters
400m Final
        Velma Morant finished in 6th place with a time of 57.65 and added three points to the Cowgirl's team total 
100m Final
        Shanice McPherson finished in 2nd place with a time of 11.87 seconds, a NCAA provisional time, and added eight points to the team total
        Stefania Gyamfi finished 7th with a time of 12.44
        Shauna-Kay Franklyn finished 8th with a time of 12.52
400m Hurdle Final
        Danielle Vigil finished in 8th place with a time of 1:07.79 and added a point to the Cowgirl's team total
200m Final
        Shanice McPherson took third place with a time of 14.88 seconds and earned six points for the Cowgirls
Shot Put
        Erin Carrica took home fifth with a throw of 12.42 and earned five points towards the team's total
        Katie Brummett took 16th place with a throw of 11.07 meters
Javelin
        Destiny Dilworth threw 34.30 meters and finished in 8th place
        Piper Mullins finished in 11th with a throw of 32.97 meters
        Erin Carrica finished in 12th place with a throw of 32.90 meters
        Katie Brummett finished in 14th place with a distance of 31.01 meters
        Haley Wells threw a distance of 31.01 meters and finished in 17th place
100m Hurdle Final
        Destiny Dilworth finished in 4th place with a time of 14.43 and earned five points for the Cowgirls
