Las Vegas, NM- New Mexico Highlands Women's Volleyball team kick off their 2016 season on Sept. 2 in Durant, Oklahoma. The Cowgirls are playing four matches on Sep. 2 and 3rd in the South Central Classic Tournament.

Dwight Combs will make his first appearances as the Cowgirls new head coach.

Senior Outside Hitter
Caroline Hansen who for the 2015 season had 187 kills for (2.05 kill/set) and 189 digs (2.08 dig/set).
Senior Setter
Tarissa Mellin who had a total of 329 assist (4.22 ast/set), 19 total serve aces (2.05 SA/set), and 115 dig for the season (1.47 dig/set).
Junior Middle Blocker
Tianna Matthews who had a total of 137 kills (1.57 kill/set) and 64 blocks (.74 blk/set) for the season.

On September 2, the Cowgirls will play two matches, first match will be against East Central University at 2 pm. Last season, the Tigers went 7-21 overall and 2-14 in the Great American Conference (GAC). They are led by Head Coach Melissa Anderson. Second match will be at 7pm against the hosting team, Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Southeastern Oklahoma went 7-23 overall and 5-1 in the GAC. The Savage Storm are led by Head Coach Brianna Barry.

 Junior Outside Hitter Madyson Gill, who had 226 kills for the season (2.76 kills/set) and a total of 22 serve aces (.27 SA/set).
Junior Setter Taylor Tuner had 836 total assist (8.38 ast/set) and 222 digs (2.16 dig/set) for the season.
Junior Middle Blocker Madeline Mayer had had 55 blocks (.54 blk/set) on the season.
Top players to look-out for Southeastern:
Sophomore Opposite Hitter Abby Jameson who had 354 kills (3.55 kill/set) for the season.
Senior Middle Blocker Julia Benford had a total of 291 kills (2.88 kill/set) and 66 blocks (.65 blk/set) for the season.
Junior Setter Alissa Benson had 1008 assist (9.33 ast/set) for the season and a total of 246 digs (2.28 digs/set).

On September 3, the Cowgirls will then play Southern Arkansas University at 10:00 am. The Mulerider's went 20-14 overall and 9-7 in the Great American Conference. The Muleriders are led by Head Coach Britney Davis. Then the women will finish up with their last match against Camerson University at 2:00 pm. The Aggies went 17-10 overall and 7-9 in the GAC. They are led by Head Coach Ol Wang.

Senior Outside Hitter Serna LeDuff had a total of 499 kills (3.90 kills/set), 39 serve aces, and 203 digs (1.59 digs/set) for the season.
Junior Middle Blocker Alli O'Banion had 68 blocks (.54 blk/set) for the season.
Senior Middle Blocker Kaitlyn Reiner had 78 blocks(.78 blk/set) for the season.

Sophomore Middle Blocker Kayla Allen had a total of 206 kills (1.96 kills/set) and 77 blocks (.73 blk/set) for the season.
