Las Vegas, NM- New Mexico Highlands University Women's Volleyball swept South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (3-0) in tonights (Sept. 23)Â Home Opener. Your Cowgirls advance their overall record 4-4 and 1-2 in RMAC
First Set:
The Cowgirls came out ready to show Wilson Complex fans what they were made. At first the set was close as both teams went neck to neck, but once your Cowgirls got the lead they took off. After that the Hardrockers battled back to get within one point. Then Senior Caroline Hansen came out on top for her team with four kills in just the first set and helped them take the first set (25-20).
Second Set:
The start of the second right away the Hardrockers got the first point by a server error. But your cowgirls did not back down and with a kill by Freshman Brianna Montano they took the lead.  The Cowgirls got had the lead by five points, but then the hardrockers battled back and came within one (18-19). That did not stop Junior Marissa Hoffman from taking over and getting three more kills to get her team the lead and win (25-19).
Third Set:
Cowgirls came out ready to end this match. Montona got her last three kills and helped the team it a 21-13 lead. The Hardrockers did not back done though and battled back. Then Caroline Hansen came in with a serve arc to get them within two points of the win. With back to back errors from them South Dakota Mine took themselves back into the set. Then with a kill by Montona and Junior Kristin Woody the Cowgirls got there first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win. (25-18)
Final Score: 3-0 Cowgirls
